The purpose of classification is to identify the performance levels of the characteristics corresponding to stress conditions identified for given uses.
The CSTB offers four types of classification and assessment:
- The UPEC classification for floor coverings intended for housing, offices, train stations and airports, shops, hotels, schools and retirement homes
- The P/MC classification for industrial flooring
- The ECAU classification for thermostatic mixing valves
- The EJC classification for underlays
